What to Expect
If you haven’t been to Sycamore Vet before, we have an amazing modern facility in the heart of Midlothian that is purposefully built to give our clients and patients the calmest vet experience ever. We have waiting areas for dog-parents and cat-parents. Once you enter, you’ll be greeted by a friendly staff member who will love your pet as much as you do.
To give you an idea of the full experience of a typical trip to Sycamore Vet, our pal Taz helped us shoot this patient’s perspective video on his recent visit to our vet clinic in Midlothian, VA.
Appointments
We work by appointments so we may give your pet the best care possible. Our staff values your time. If a doctor is running late, we’ll let you know as soon as possible and try to accommodate you to the best of our ability. Conversely, if you’re late for an appointment, we may ask you to drop off your pet or reschedule so we can remain on time and give you and your pet our full attention.
Before Your Appointment
Please briefly explain your pet’s problem when you make your appointment so enough time can be scheduled to fully care for their needs. Bring in any medical history you have of your pet when you come to our vet clinic for the first time. It’s best to keep a journal of your pet’s health throughout his or her life, including behavioral shifts. If you have something like this, share it with our team. If not, let us know everything that you think will be important.
If you prefer to see a particular doctor, please let us know. Pets staying at our hospital for hospitalization, procedures, and surgery are required to have a current rabies vaccine. Virginia state law requires all domestic animals to have a current rabies vaccine, even if your pet never goes outside.
Online Forms
Please fill out and submit the provided forms below prior to your visit. This will allow us more one-on-one time with you and your pet and less time on paperwork.

Payment Options
At Sycamore Vet, payment is expected when services are rendered. In order to keep our prices competitive and to focus on our patients’ needs and customer service, we do not bill. We accept debit cards, credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express), checks, and cash.
Care Credit
We completely understand that unexpected expenses can happen when an unexpected illness affects a pet. That’s why Sycamore Vet is able to make some special payment arrangements through the CareCredit program. It only takes five minutes to apply and CareCredit allows you to break down your payment into six monthly installments. You can either apply during your visit, where we’ll call in your application over the phone for immediate approval, or you can apply online.
Highlights of the CareCredit program:
- Low Monthly Payments (3% of the Total Balance)
- Interest Free For Six Months
- Determine Approval in a Few Minutes
- No Annual Fee
Insurance for Your Pets
Another popular option for your family and pet is insurance coverage. Please note, payment will need to be paid out of pocket, at the time of service, even with insurance. Veterinary insurance works as a reimbursement directly to you, not as a replacement of payment when the service takes place. To learn more, please visit the following pet insurance websites:
Drop-off Services
Sometimes it may be necessary to drop off your pet for extended treatments, convenience, or if we are booked with appointments. We offer a drop-off service and ask that you call ahead to let us know so we can be prepared for your pet’s arrival.
